Importing App Store reviews with AppFollow

App Store reviews are some of the most honest feedback you’ll ever get - and some of the easiest to lose track of. Connect AppFollow and Pilea imports your app-store reviews and ratings as feedback, so they land in the same place as everything else.

It’s a one-way import: Pilea reads reviews through AppFollow and never writes anything back.

What you’ll need

  • Admin access in Pilea (only admins can change integration settings)
  • An AppFollow account and an AppFollow API token

How to connect AppFollow

  1. In Pilea, go to Integrations in the sidebar under Data Sources.
  2. Find AppFollow in the grid and click Connect.
  3. When prompted with Enter your AppFollow API token:, paste your token.
  4. Click Connect. Once it completes, you’ll see Connected successfully! and a setup wizard walks you through the initial configuration.

Your credentials are encrypted at rest, and you can disconnect anytime from the integration’s config dialog.

ℹ️ Note: AppFollow connects at the organization level, so all workspaces in your organization can access it. Each workspace has its own sync toggle and configures its own data filters, so different teams can import different slices of your review stream.

What gets imported

Reviews and ratings from the app stores come into Pilea as feedback. From there they’re treated like any other feedback source - Pilea analyzes them alongside your support tickets, conversations, and interviews.

💡 Tip: Reviews often repeat what your support channel is already telling you - but in the reviewer’s own words, with a star rating attached. Seeing both in one backlog makes the pattern hard to miss.

Syncing and settings

  • Sync from - In the config dialog’s Settings tab, set how far back to sync data.
  • Sync now - Click it on the connected AppFollow card to trigger a manual sync. Long syncs run in the background with progress on the card, and Cancel is available.
  • Full Re-sync from Start - In the Advanced tab. Re-imports all data from your “Sync from” date; already processed records are left untouched.

PII redaction applies here too: turn it on in Settings → PII Redaction and Pilea automatically redacts names, emails, phone numbers, and other sensitive data from imported feedback across all sources.

Troubleshooting

Connection fails when entering the token Double-check you’ve pasted the full AppFollow API token with no extra spaces. If it still fails, generate a fresh token in AppFollow and try again.

No reviews appearing after connecting Check the “Sync from” date in the integration settings - reviews older than that date won’t import. Then click Sync now on the AppFollow card and watch the progress on the card.
