Coming up with a company name might arguably be one of the most challenging parts of starting a venture. It’s like trying to name a pet goldfish that you just bought at the gas station—sure, it’s a big responsibility, but let’s be honest, it might be gone by next week. 🙈
When we set out to name our product, we wanted something that captured the essence of what we’re trying to achieve: simplicity, growth, and spreading knowledge effortlessly. That’s why we landed on Pilea—a name inspired by one of the world’s most popular houseplants, the Pilea peperomioides.

This plant is known for being:
Familiar and Widespread: Much like how Pilea (the tool 😅) aims to become a familiar part of every product team’s workflow, the Pilea plant is found in homes around the globe.
Low Maintenance: The Pilea plant is incredibly easy to care for, just as our tool simplifies feedback management with automation.
Self-Propagating: Pilea plants produce huge amounts (!) of offspring that are easy to share and spread. It’s a perfect metaphor for how knowledge grows and spreads when insights are accessible to everyone.
Interestingly, the plant was introduced to the West by a Norwegian missionary named Agnar Espegren in the 1940s. He brought it back from China to Scandinavia, and it quickly became a household favorite.
